Coffee riggers its production and this may result in a shortage of the same when the stomach needs to break down a severe meal; this could upset your stomach or bring about complications such as bloat.

Caffeine

  • Unexplained rage.
  • A headache and fatigue.

It affects the brain and central nervous system

What coffee does is that it shuts down the
chemicals that signal fatigue to the brain. In other terms, it tricks your

brain into thinking that it is more alert, energetic and awake. When the
caffeine wears off, you are in for it. The chemicals become sensitive, and
you end up feeling more tired, this also cause:

  • Anxiety
  • Irritability
  • Drowsiness and jitters.
  • Nervousness.

Other negativities include:

  • Black coffee can increase blood pressure
    to dangerous levels.
  • It can cause acid reflux.
  • It can trigger ulcers due to excess acidity.

As you have seen, black coffee is beneficial, but it
is not a saint. At the end of it all, it comes down to your discipline and how

your body reacts. If you feel that the negatives are starting to outweigh the
benefits, you should make a wise decision to cut or reduce the intake. Experts
advise that you take no more than four standard cups of black coffee in a day.

  1. I like coffee, mostly because of the reasons you’ve stated above.. i find back coffee to be the best in waking me up, and giving me a boost of energy, especially when i take it hot and without sugar. But most often than not, I also found that black coffee causes stomach upset and i will be running for the toilet at a few sips. Does this means my body is not compatible to drink coffee?

    1. Hi Isaac,

Thank you for taking time to comment on my post.

I don’t think that your body is not compatible to drink coffee. Those are the effects that coffee has on anyone’s body. Coffee is something almost all of us are dependent on. But in the long run, it can also bring some side effects, and they vary from individual to individual.

      Greetings,

      Marta

    Does this make a difference?

    1. Hey Furkan!

In my experience, it does not make a difference when to consume black coffee. I only advise against consuming it on an empty stomach and in the evening. Cheers:)

  3. Black coffee is a favourite beverage of mine. Very interesting to discover the benefits. Great to learn that it is a painkiller. I use it with cocoa and honey in my hair to help keep the gray hairs at bay.
Taking note of the side effects is important.
Do you think coffee has an effect on sleep if taken late in the day?

    1. Hi Tania, it depends… Usually, if you drink coffee late in the day you can have some trouble to fall asleep but I have known people who didn’t have any issue in that sense.
